More than a century of technological innovation
The origins of Kawasaki Heavy Industries can be traced back to 1878. Back then, company founder Shozo Kawasaki opened a shipyard to build ships. Mobility on water, but also on land and in the air determines the history of Kawasaki. As early as 1906, shipbuilding was expanded to include the production of locomotives, freight and passenger cars, and 12 years later an aviation department was added. The production spectrum today ranges from container ships and oil tankers to high-speed trains such as the famous Shinkansen, helicopters and jets to a large number of industrial plants - including power plants, bridges, tunnel boring machines, gas turbines or waste incineration plants.
